Pattaya Sheep Farm in Banglamung
Pattaya Sheep Farm, Banglamung, Chonburi
Not only is the Pattaya Sheep Farm a great day out for the whole family, this petting zoo is excellent value. Entry is only 50 baht for adults and any child over 110 cm in height, while kids under this height go free.
The Basics:
· Great for little ones
· Activities include gentle rides and exploring
· Many picture opportunities
· Excellent value family outing
Well designed with and with clear signage, the farm sits on a huge 20 rai of land. There are animal pens, barns, an aviary, and amusingly designed sculptures dotted all over. You will even find a replica Dutch windmill along with a collection of wigwams.
The kids can cuddle the lambs, feed their hungry parents, get close to the miniature horses, and hold the baby piglets. They can even spot the spotted deer! There is a giant tortoise slowly doing its rounds, while Peacocks strut their stuff. If a pony ride does it for your little ones, then there is an enclosure for those who want to saddle up.
You older folk will have lots of areas to rest, although it is very doubtful the kids will join you. There are play areas for the younger ones as well as a bouncy slide to whizz down. A Ferris wheel waits to take them round and round, and then there are the wigwams to peer in before heading for the windmill. A quick climb to the top rewards you with great views across the farm and beyond.
All of this activity is bound to make you hungry, and if that is the case, simply head to the Barn Steak House. The wooden slab tables and bench seating give the whole place a rustic feel. There is also seating outside if you need to keep an eye on what the kids are up to next. The restaurant can hold about 100 people with an additional barn that can host 300. So space should not be an issue.
The food is of a high standard and reasonably priced. You can choose from appetizers, a whole variety of soups and sandwiches, or go straight to the main course. There is obviously the compulsory ice cream which your kids may just hang around for before they are back off exploring.
Just make sure you have your camera at the ready. The amusing and brightly coloured sculptures will have the kids posing all over them, while the shots you get of them with the sheep and other animals will be a fond reminder of an excellent family day out.
Weekends are by far the busiest as this is when lots of Thai families visit, so if you do have the chance to go during the week you should take it.
